Eddie Wong
Founder & Principal Consultant, GAC Hong Kong & Singapore (APAC)
Eddie has an EMBA from the Fudan University, Shanghai and the Queen’s University of Brighton, CA, USA. He is also an Associate Member of the Project Management Professional.
Eddie has over 30 years experience working with various leading banks in Hong Kong, Singapore and Switzerland. He was the Head of Custody Operations with Deutsche Bank Hong Kong and the Head of Operations with HSBC Investment Bank Singapore between 1992 to 2002. He also acted as the Regional Head of Operations with HSBC Private Bank Hong Kong and the Regional Head of Securities Operations with UBS Wealth Management Singapore from 2003 to 2012.
Starting from 2013, Eddie has started his new role as Senior Project Manager and Business Change Lead with Hang Seng Private Bank Hong Kong, UBS Wealth Management Hong Kong, China Merchant Bank Singapore, Bank of Singapore HQ and SEBA Bank Switzerland till end of 2019. After that he joined Haitong International Securities Singapore as the Managing Director & Head of Private Wealth Management to transform its business platform to a boutique private bank one by clawing back most share back loans and introducing more investment products and solutions to its UHNWI and HNWI customers between Feb 2020 and Feb 2022.
Eddie has considerable experience having led Asia and Global wide projects with the leading banks and financial institutions over 30 years. He worked at tier-1 investment banks, private banks, wealth managers, securities firm, digital bank and digital exchange in compliance, credit controls, marketing, operational, products and risk management functions. His projects have well covered setup and license application for new branch offices; regional operation centres; licensed CMS / FMC companies; blockchain digital bank and exchange in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Thomas Cheung
Managing Partner – Business Development, GAC Hong Kong & Singapore (APAC)
Thomas owns a Bachelor’s Degree of Commerce (Honors) from the University of Windsor, Canada. He is holding the relevant regulated licenses as Financial Advisor with the licensed entities in Singapore.
Thomas has spent 30 years in the banking industry and the international securities clearing and custody services in Asia Pacific. He started his career with American Express Bank Hong Kong’s private wealth management at an early stage. He subsequently joined Clearstream Banking Hong Kong to cover the banking and institutional clients across Asia and developed all key markets from scratch.
Thomas moved to Singapore in 2007 to head the Clearstream Banking Representative Office, which had become the Asian central hub for the APAC region. He was the Senior Vice President and Head of Southeast Asia in charge of all banking relationships in the entire ASEAN and the South Asia markets.
Throughout his career with Clearstream, he worked closely with not only commercial banks, but most central banks and supranational institutions in the region. He actively advised on clients’ internal banking system projects, major market initiatives, market liberalizations and regulatory changes in the region.
After joining GAC, Thomas has provided his advisory and consultancy to various banks and fintech companies on project implementations, business strategies and regional marketing expansions.
